What are some safe areas to live in the Dallas (Texas) area?

Probably in Frisco. It is a very family oriented community and I believe that the crime rate is pretty low.*

I've lived in Dallas all my life.

For south Dallas - Midlothian (25 minute drive into dallas)

For East Dallas I would go to Mesquite or Rowlett

For North Dallas I would go to Plano (west side) or Carrolton.

For West Dallas I would forget it.

For in Dallas city limits, I would go near Northpark mall. Perhaps the Lakewood area (nice reasonably priced grandma neighborhood).

Highlands Park (but pretty expensive and kinda a bad rep for being snooty), Plano, Lewisville, the Southlake/Grapevine/Colleyville/Keller area.

How much do you want to spend? Do you want to rent or buy? Where will you be working? Without this information we cannot reasonably help you.

Safest areas are... Flower Mound, Highland Village (safest city to live in the USA), Plano, Lewisville, Frisco, Grapevine, North Richland Hills, Bedford, Highland Park or the Lake Cities, Corinth and Uptown Dallas. Dallas is mostly a safe place just have to pick and choose wisely.

Depends on variation of factors

1. how much do you have available to spend
2. Anything specific you are looking for within the apartment
3. number of bedrooms
4. location

as far as safe areas lets be honest there really isn't such a thing as safe areas crime in general tends to happen much worse in areas where rent rates are very low, gangs are near by, this will give you a better idea of crime in dallas in general

Plano, Mesquite, North Dallas, Garland, All the northerneast surburbs of Dallas ... Make sure you pick the right placein teh city too though. I lived in East Plano but in the nice part of East Plano .. :) I loooved Plano to edeath!!! Those were MEMORIES

chris Rthe poster is correct... i lived in carrollton and the schools are fine and the housing is affordable

after my divorce i rented a house in lakewood and it is very affordable and has a old timey feel with lots of fun things to do and close to downtown...


too bad i moved to illinois where nothing is affordable and nothing is fun... Love ya texas!!!
