This number doesn't work, it begins with +2548?

Is there anything I need to do to it to make it work? When I ring it on my cell phone it comes up with number not in use, yet they only rang me 20 mins ago.

254 is a number from Irving, so use 972 area code and it should work.

use a 0 instead of the +

Whoever called you might be using a device to manipulate caller ID, like a telemarketer, or it might be from a big company where the call out number is not a call in number.

Somebody gave dfwteddy a thumbs down, but it's a very plausible explanation. Telemarketers now routinely scramble the caller ID with such things as all zeroes, or 9-digit numbers. Also, many large companies with dozens or hundreds of phone numbers use an internal PBX routing system which results in an inaccurate caller ID. The one thing about PBX's, though, is that they will give a legitimate area code and phone number, just that it can't be called back.

Nonsensical or incomplete numbers I ignore as much as Private or Out Of Area ID's. It's also why I have voice mail. If it's important, they can leave a message. If it's not important to them, why should be important to me?
