I am traveling to mexico by plane. do i need a passport to cross? |
i am a U.S. citizen, i have my I.D. and my proof of citizenship... I BELIEVE MEXICO NOW REQUIRES PASSPORTS SINCE 9/11--IN THE PAST YRS YOU DID NOT NEED A PASSPORT, YET I BELIEVE YOU DO NOW NEED A PASSPORT, WHEN LEAVING THE US TO GO TO MEXICO OR CANADA, ETC... I'm pretty sure that as of December 2006, if you leave the U.S., you need a passport. If any Mexican official asks you for a passport, laugh in their face. you need a passport...it's a different country. i think u need one Right now, no. But after December, it will be required. You might as well invest in one now. Yes, you need a passport. Anytime you go farther than the border you need a passport. You probably don't, but don't take the word of anyone who is not in an official position to know. I would say "Yes" based on this information from the U.S. Dept. of State website: Currently US citizens do not require a passport to cross the border to Mexico. This will change by Jan. 1, 2008. yes The answer is no. As long as you go before 2007 you should be fine. After that you will need a passport to travel outside the United States and even then there are things you can do to avoid getting a passport like the PASS (some type of temporary passport). You have to be in the United Stated before December 31, 2006. I saw "2008", I saw "yes it's another country." This is from people that have probably never been to Mexico. I went to Mexico in 2005 and you had to have a passport or birth certificate issued by the state YOU DON'T NEED IT FOR MEXICO UNTIL JAN 1 OF 2008 ALL YOU NEED IS YOUR I.D. AND BIRTH SERTIFAACITE I JUST WENT TO MEX. CITY |
