Anyone been on a DISNEY Family Cruise??

I was thinking about this, and am interested in finding out some more about this cruise. Has anyone been, or know someone who's done this? I'm married and we have a 3.5 year old daughter... and I'm looking into doing this late next year, but if we can't afford it then maybe a little later. What activities are there, how was the experience, costs??? Thanks :)

We took our girls last year when they were 4 and 6 it was a great time for the whole family. My husband and I enjoyed it and the girls were in heaven. Disney does a really good job but you go knowing that it is a week of everything Disney. The ship is clean, well organized, and there is never a dull moment. Yes, it costs more than a regular cruise. my friend went on there. she said the food bloated you really bad and after she came home she did not eat for a couple of days. i heard it was great for kids and was super fun.

yes, i went on the big red boat with my daughter when she was five. I was horrified. I may be a scrooge but i think disney is such a scam. Take your daughter some place real, like costa rica or try sanibel island.

Talking to other passengers on Carnival, they said Disney was about twice as much money as Carnival. Carnival has activities for kids too. They have Camp Carnival. Disney is the only cruise line without on board casinos.

I have not had first hand experience on the Disney cruise line but I know good friends that went and we are actually going in May of this year, so if you want you can msg me then and I will give you a complete list of things. But for now, let me tell you that Disney is awesome and is a great vacation to take your daughter on! Disney cruise line has parties geared just for kids and has a program for children as well. Someone mentioned that it does not have a casino but that is because the boat is family geared, so that should not matter anyway. I heard the food was great and that the places to eat have a kid's menu with food just for them! Disney cruise line owns an island where kids can have some scavenger hunts and other activities. Oceaneer Club: Ages 3 to 7

Stepping through the doorway of the Oceaneer Club, you will find yourself transported into a Neverland pirate ship scene. Here a treasure chest holds a television and the barrels double as lamps. Be sure to check out the "night sky" for a sparkling surprise. Parents and children must check-in at the desk and security is of the utmost importance here. The Oceaneer Club is for children 3 to 7 years of age and they must be toilet-trained. Here the children can climb and slide in the play area, dress up as their favorite Princess, villain or pirate, play games, create at the Lego table or play in the computer lab where the large mouse is specifically designed for the little ones. Children can stay here for as much or as little time as they like. The problem will be trying to get them to leave.

Children are grouped into two age categories, 3 to 4 and 5 to 7-year-olds. There are fun, supervised activities featured throughout the cruise. Here are some of the highlights:

Ages 3 to 4:

Welcome Party - The children will play games, sing, dance, listen to a story, make a craft and meet a Disney Character while getting familiar with the Club and all of the activities that lie ahead.
Where鈥檚 Tinkerbell? (7-night Caribbean Cruise Only) -
The children will embark on a hunt for Tinkerbell. By following clues they'll find her secret hiding place and have a magical surprise.

Mouseketeer Training - There's no better way to learn to be an official Mouseketeer than by watching video clips from the 50's Mickey Mouse Club TV show and marching along to the theme song.
Swingin鈥?with Tarzan - A bit of fun and mischief. The kids will use their artistic skills to imitate Jane, slide like the King of the Jungle, Tarzan and "break camp" Terk style.
Do Si Do with Snow White - The children will learn the "Dance of the Seven Dwarfs" and dance alongside Snow White.
Welcome to Wonderland - A "Very Merry Unbirthday" is celebrated with Alice.
Pumbaa PJ Party (7-Night Caribbean Cruise Only) - The Lion King theme is celebrated with roars, dancing, storytelling and crafting a pillowcase to keep as a souvenir. The kids will even eat "bugs." This special night is capped off by a visit from Goofy before the children settle in to watch a movie.
King Tritons Royal Court - The children will become "Citizens of the Sea" while learning about the ocean.
Brother Bear - Both instructional and fun, the little ones will learn the story of 鈥淏rother Bear鈥?through a variety of activities. They鈥檒l make bear masks, walk through the 鈥渨oods鈥?and play a memory game on the memory game wall.
Ariel鈥檚 Bubble Party (7-Night Caribbean Cruise Only) - Bubbles, bubbles everywhere. Children learn how to make bubbles and use all sorts of wands and blowers. A "bubble" picture is made from cotton balls and a souvenir gift is given.
Sebastian鈥檚 Musical Sea Search - Where are Sebastian's instruments? The children go on a fun pursuit of the little crustacean's musical stash.
Aladdin's Fun Adventure - A "Magic Carpet Ride" adventure awaits as the children visit the "cave" and "market" where this "Diamond in the Rough" began his escapades.
Nemo鈥檚 Coral Reef Adventures - Puppets are used to take the children on an undersea voyage.

I've been to Costa Rica, Hawaii, Walt Disney World and will be going on my first Disney Cruise in July. I think it's totally worth the money.

OMG!! I am 13 and I went on the cruise when I was 5, 7, and 11 It was Sooooo much fun! Definatly a place to take your daughter. She would love all of the characters and the mini pool and my personal favorite, (the on-deck ice cream bar!!) So fun!! definatly look in up on line and find out more!! SO FUN! I'll always remember it.

Yes...we been on it. We are going on a disney 4 day cruise in August. We are going on a 7 day disney cruise in August 09. The best way to get a low price on a disney cruise is to book ahead. I saved probably $1500-$2000 on my 09 cruise just by booking it way in advance. Remember, it is fully refundable if canceled within about 2 1/2 months. So, its worth it to lock in the price. It only goes up, the longer you wait. Best cruise you will have.

My kids are 3 and 5 and they loved the Disney cruise. If you check them into the kids club, you get a pager and you and your husband get to go do your thing. They page you if your child wants to come out. The shows are elaborate, the ship is beautiful. There are lots of activities and live music, and lots of time to spend with characters if that's your thing (it isn't ours). I didn't like the food, but there is milk and soda available all the time, as well as lots of fresh fruit.

It was a really good time.

We have also been on Holland America, which I would not suggest for family travel, and Royal Caribbean, which we loved. The kid's room is smaller on RC, and you pay for a soda card, which is an extra $30 or so for a week. The club was small but well-run. The shows were good. It's much cheaper. Honestly, she'll have fun either way, but Disney really puts in the extra effort.

It is very expensive but oh my goodness it is WELL WORTH it! It is so magical and your little girl will just be out of her mind about all the characters walking around and all of the activities that are created just for her. Don't feel left out though, there are a lot of adult things to do and they can keep you child for you! You will have an absolute blast and your daughter will be so blown away!
