i dont know anything about the above cities !
please help and suggest me !
i am from Iran.

2 summers ago, my dad and brother went on one of those tour packages just like what you've signed up for, except they visited a few more cities than your list. According to what they said, it is definitely a great package. But the trip is a bit rushed, as you stay in each city for only 1 night. So better PACK LIGHT, because the next morning, you'll have to get up and go, as you must carry EVERYTHING with you. Beijing was the best part of their trip, because you get to see the Forbidden City and the Great Wall. My brother was impressed about the city lights in Shanghai, but those tall buildings look kind of "space agey," so he thought it was kind of weird set against some other ancient-style architectured landmarks. Don't forget your camera! The scenery in EVERY one of those cities is AWESOME. If you're into traditional Chinese instrumental music, get some masterpieces collections, because the prices of CDs are so much cheaper over there, most of which are hard to find even online. And be sure to indulge yourself in the many snacks that are not available outside China.

Other than that, BE CAUTIOUS of all the CRAZY DRIVERS, because their traffic laws are not as structured, so people tend to tailgate each other on the roads. And they DON'T stop for pedestrians, so if you have to cross the street, don't wait for them to be courteous and yield for you. Instead, be cautious but also be assertive and just go. And also be cautious of pick-pocket thieves, of course. Otherwise, everybody else there are super nice.

The public bathrooms are REALLY BAD, as most places don't have Western-looking toilets----even in Western restaurants like McDonalds, it's the Asian-style ones where you have to squat. There are mostly only 1 or 2 stalls per gender, so expect to stand in SUPER LONG LINES in almost all the restaurants. And most of all, remember to ALWAYS carry toilet paper out with you, as they don't have janitors to replenish the toilet paper in shorter time intervals.

Lastly, be cautious of carrying bed bugs home with you. Bed bugs are regular residents in most of their hotels over there----even in 5-star hotels. My dad and brother brought back a whole bunch of those and it was a killer job (almost a year's efforts) trying to get rid of them. So bring a few rolls of LINT ROLLERS (the best method) to roll off ALL of your clothing items before heading home----even roll EVERY corner of your luggage to make sure there aren't any in hiding. Once you get home, BEFORE you set down your luggage on the floor, be sure to wash EVERYTHING in hot water, then put the clothes in the dryer set on HIGH HEAT----just in case.

For souvenir ideas for your mom, sister(s), or girlfriend, shop the "street markets" for those designer-brand replica handbags. There are a wider variety of selections over there and the prices are much cheaper than anywhere else. So be sure to ask your tour guide when he/she will be taking people out at night to those kinds of "street markets." My dad and brother missed out on that because the tour guide thought, as men, they would have no interest in handbag shopping.

Don't worry too much about the negative cautions listed above, as long as you take the proper precautions. You will have lots of fun! Oh, and since the Olympics are coming up soon, don't forget to pick up collectible items as souvenirs, too. Take pictures of those rare architectural landmarks that are specifically built for the Olympics. I heard they have invested a lot of $ into building those. Bon voyage!!

How are you getting around? If its by train, you may want to take urumqi off of the list as its REALLY far out there. In fact, a train (the standard way to travel here) takes 7 days from Beijing to Urumqi.
Its important to note as well, that it is currently very cold in Beijing and urumqi, so be prepared for that.
