Approx. when did this tradition start? it's not a pinwheel. it's called a bagua. and it's not the symbol of chiunese new year. it just a charm like a horseshoe on the door jamb. are you sure that it's not the Chinese zodiac? circular design with pictures of animals between 12 spokes?
