What do Chinese Think of Muslims?

What do Chinese Think of Muslims?

I am a Singaporean Chinese living in China. In Singapore there are quite some Muslims, ard 20%. We live very well with each other. I'm Chinese and sometimes they will invite me to their festivals to celebrate. Wonderful and friendly people.
In China there are also seriously a lot of Muslims. And they are also very friendly! And they make the best 'Yang rou chung' (a type of food). Lol.

I have a very postive impression of them in China, Singapore and Malaysia. I have not been to other Countries with a significant number of Muslims, so I'm not in a position to say anything about other country, except the 3 I mentioned.

I know some extremist had been casting Muslims in a very bad light. But people just need to realise those 'extremist' do NOT represent the whole Muslim.

I was warned about Muslims from a Chinese man raised in western China. He said that the weakest kids were beaten in school and that their views on using violence were very different from the rest of the world.

I say this only to balance the previous opinion in that there are still two very different sets of opions regarding Muslims and I am sure that it depends who you ask. Here, in my part of the US, we see both sides on a small scale. Some, very gracious and sweet and the other that could not be more opposite.

I live in the central part of China as a transplanted ex pat from the USA.

There is a Muslim population here and it seems everyone gets along. I have never heard of any problems. I don't think the average Chinese gives a rats behind what a person is religiously, only that they are a decent person.

.

Cant be bad cos there are many Chinese in China alone who are Muslims.

there are over 1.3 million Uyghurs , 1.7 million Hui, and other groups like Tartars, Kazakhs, Kyrgyz in China. All of them are muslim. My experience with them has been fine, I always ate at their restuarants, they were impressed that I could read Arabic. I tried speaking to some Uyghurs in their language, they were cool and helped me with my pronunciation
