In what area would you book a hotel in hong kong?

Hi all! We are a young couple going on vacations to Hong Kong very soon, and I don't know what area should I choose our hotel? Is it better to choose one in Hong Kong Island or in Kowloom?? Any other ideas? Also if somebody thinks about any "must see" places.... Thank much for all your help!

Definitely Kowloon, for the first visit there. Otherwise, the outlying islands are so close to the action, and have a variety of small hotels and hostel-type accommodation in beautiful setting. Lamma and Lantau are great for beaching, hiking, small fishing villages.

If you are looking for a hotel that is centre of all actions in Hong Kong, then Kowloon side is better as majority of tourist attraction is at Kowloon side. If you are looking more towards local lifestyle feel of its people, than Hong Kong Island side is right for you. I personally stayed in both side before on every trip to Hong Kong, but I think your should go to Hong Kong Island side as Island side is more romantic than Kowloon side.

For your, your can go to The Peak for a romantic night and catch a glimspe of the sunset and/or sunrise. Its night view is a must for your to look out for. The Avenue of the Stars in Tsim Sha Tsui is another breezy and romantic place to look out for. Go to any old houses to explore the heritage of the old time Hong Kong, eg. Sam Tung Uk in Tsuen Wan is a must as its hardly being seen in such a modernized place like Hong Kong.

There are many places for your to visit in Hong Kong and if you have time your can also visit Macau as your sidetrip.

Hope your have a nice trip to Hong Kong real soon.

Kowloon

Kowloon, more variety to see.

Kowloon is the best to stay for tourists . hk island is for business travellers .... anyway hk island is just a ferry ride away ... and the view at night from kowloon is fantastic .. just like the postcards

I would really choose Kowloon, because I personally think it's more fun and more suitable and agreeable to the needs or purpose of myself.

If this is your first time I would say Kowloon for its tourist attractions etc... For a hotel stay the best, I have found online booking site is with http://www.asiarooms.com

Also, for more detailed information on what to see and do check out http://www.discoverhongkong.com
Enjoy!

basically, it doesn't really matters as long as you're close to the MTR station. The MTR trains take you almost anywhere you want to go. personally, i prefer the kowloon side.
