Chinese yuan in HK?

Im going for a trip in Ghuangzhou china soon, and we plan to go hk for 1d1n or maybe 2d1n stopover.

1) Im wondering whether most places there accept chinese yuan cos i heard i can use it there?

2) If i need to change HKD, how much do you think would b sufficient (in terms of SGD) for such a short stopover?

3) this is off topic but do you think SGD500 (appx 2500rmb/cny) is sufficient or too much for 1 person on this 7day guangzhou trip? how much will you change?

Thank you

Some real answers:

1. Many places will accept RMB, but many will not (MTR i.e.). You will have to change some money to HK$

2. Really depends. You can use credit card in hotel and many bigger restaurants. Some shops may ask for 3% more if you use card, not all though.

3. 2500rmb per day is a very good. For 7 days it.s 357 per day. That just pays a cheap hotel. 500-600 a day is a tight budget, but may can do.

It is best to ask if RMB is accepted. Some places accept them with no problems, like Wellcome and Park n'Shop. That it's not accepted on HK Island is BS, just ask. Nevertheless you will need HK$ mostly and will use RMB only from time to time.

You need to change your money into KH$

Well, all i know is that whatever in US dollars, equals eight times the amount in China/Guangzhou/Hk/other places in Asia.

I've been to Hk about 6-7 times and never even seen what a yuan looks like. I'm sure on the kowloon side you might be able to get away with using yuan, but on the HK side it is HKD only.

One SGD = Renminbi 5.037
One SGD = HK Dollars 5.42
------------------------

You can change Renminbi for HK Dollars at any Foreign Exchange Dealer, preferably in Kowloon side of Hongkong.
Go to Chungking Mansion (Nathan Road,Tsim Tsa Tsuai.)
You get better rates from Singapore Exchange, &/or Patel Exchange.

RMB is not in use in Hongkong. You have to exchange it.for
HKD.

SGD 500/- may not be sufficient enough for a seven days stay. You may find cheap accommodation in Chungking Mansion,Kowloon.. It may also cost you around HKD 100/- per night.
You can get some sort of inexpensive food within the mansion premises.

1) No, switch to HKD

2) It depends on what you use with it. I would say maybe 5000 HKD

3) No, it isn't enough!

Hi, I've been to Hong Kong and Shenzhen, and, based from my experience, generally, the Hong Kong Dollar is well-accepted by shops in Shenzhen (and I think in Southern Guangdong as well). The Chinese Yuan can be used in tourist attractions/theme parks such as Ocean Park and Disneyland (I've read in the guidebooks that you can do so)... but generally, in other establishments, i think some will not accept the Yuan :-(

in my experience they accept the rmb in hk , and they will like it because the rmb value is much greater than the hkd .....but the transaction is 1 hkd -1 rmb
