How much money should i bring with me to chicago this summer july-aug????

Hi,

I am going to live in Chicago for 4 weeks this summer. I was wondering that how much money should i bring with me? I am from Norway and 19 years. Going to live alone.. is 1000-2000 dollars enough???? ( exclude the charges of the place i am going to live in.. just talking abt food and stuff )

Thx for help!

if you have your place paid for i would bring at least $2000 and it depends how much partying you plan to do..and what you want to see and do obivuously you wont be able to drink
but many great pizza places around Chicago
and you should go to Wrigley Field for a Cub game and catch a Sox game at Ceeluar Field
CubS at Wrigley sit in the bleachers for one heck of a great time

prolly closer to 2000$ unless you plan on getting a job!

WOW! first off welcome to chicago the money you will bring should be enough for the 4 weeks but if you are planning on staying in the downtown chicago area you will need more than that. the downtown area is beautiful with our great buildings and lakefront views but you have to have money to enjoy it and if you love pizza let me know i know a few really good pizza places

yeah, two grand should be enough for four weeks, provided you don't go extravagant and eat at Tru or Alina every night of the week, or drop $20 cover charge for some of the swanky clubs. Coffee shops, small ethinic restaurants and (mostly) public transportation should leave you with enough cash to enjoy yourself. I mean, $500 bucks a week is a lot to spend, especially if you have your lodging already set. There are a bunch of small comedy places that are either free or for about $10 or less, storefront theaters that have low admissions but good productions. And since you'll be here in the summer, there are tons of free outdoor concerts sponsored by the city, or street fairs where the admission is only about $5. You're only real expense will probably be souveniers or if you plan on doing some shopping. And since you're 19, you can't drink in the bars so that should save you a lot of money.

but yes, for a 19 year old, $500 a week is a lot of cash to have for Chicago. You'll probably go home with money leftover.

$2,000 should do just fine. You can find affordable eats in Chicago. As long as you're not hitting Morton's Steakhouse or going to downtown nightclubs every single evening, you'll do great.
