Is it true that Buenos Aires looks like a European city ?

Is it true that Buenos Aires looks like a European city ?

The city does very much indeed resemble the layouts of most major European cities. The individual neighborhoods are a microcosm of the cities the immigrants came from during the late 1880's-1910's. Mostly from Northern Italy, Southern Spain, and France. The city streets in the Micro center are very similar to Madrid streets while the Nueve de Julio will remind you of the Champs Ellysses. The area of San Telmo on the other town looks like Italy in almost every aspect. The Recoletta area is also very French in style with open air cafes that open on to parks etc.

all this talk.. Mi Buenos Aires Querido!

Yep. some street looks exactly as Paris. Argentineans copied alot from European cities.

Yes it's very european but with a latin flare.

yes. it's a cheap paris especially if you have us dollars or, even better, euros. have fun

yeah not only buenos aires look like a european city, there is a couple of cities in argentina that look european. like Rosario,Mar del Plata, Cordoba & Mendoza. in fact the 98% of the argentina population are from europe. After World War 2, Millions of European Went to Argentina.
No only The cities have European style, The argentinian Culture is very Eurpean Style.

yes, after WW2 many europeans arrived in argentina...but the major immigration wave took place between 1880 and 1920, mostly from italy and spain, but also from france, germany, ireland, gb and even russia..
was between 1820 and 1880 that authorities decided to do away with all spanish connotation (was considered decadent), and that was accomplished by looking in the paris direction..

If you wanna find a real european city in Argentina, spend some money to go to "Villa General Belgrano", in Cordoba state "Provincia de C贸rdoba".
It has deep (and I mean DEEP) german roots. It looks entirely tiroleese, oktoberfest and all.
History says that the saylors of the "Admiral Graff Spee", the german destructor sunk at the "R铆o de la Plata", went to live there.
