I would like to visit Argentina, specifically Buenos Aires and Iguassu Falls?

Can anyone recommend details of going in August, as this is the only month I have holidays. Flights, places to stay, weather, places to see etc. Travelling from UK.

Hi! The cost will depend on what budget you have and what trip style you prefer. This is some useful information. When you arrive in Buenos Aires International Airport (Ezeiza) you can take a taxi or a shuttle downtown. If you need some local currency upon arrival, change some pounds or dollars at Banco Nacion (they have the best exchange rate). It is better to use pesos in Argentina. Some good accommodation (relation price/quality) in Buenos Aires is: Portal del Sur (Hostel, http://www.portaldelsurba.com.ar/), Castelar Hotel (3-Star, http://www.castelarhotel.com.ar/), Pestana Hotel (4-Star, http://www.pestana.com/), Emperador Hotel (5-Star, http://www.hotel-emperador.com.ar/), Four Seasons (5-Star Superior, http://www.fourseasons.com/buenosaires/)... Group tours that I recommend doing in Buenos Aires are: city tour (will let you have an overview of the city so you can visit your favorite areas on your own afterwards), tigre (nice area with islands and navigations, 30 minutes from the city), estancia (ranch in spanish, nice to have a good barbaque and riding horses), dinner & tango show (great to learn about tango). To walk on your own, I would recommend you to go to La Boca, Recoleta, Palermo and San Telmo, weekends are better to walk around and see people. For domestic flights, you may like to check http://www.aerolineas.com.ar or http://www.lan.com . You can also travel by bus from Buenos Aires to Iguazu (http://www.viabariloche.com.ar/ or http://www.crucerodelnorte.com.ar/). Flights take about 1 hour and 15 minutes, bus about 16 hours. In Iguazu you can stay at Hostel Inn (Hostel, http://www.hostel-inn.com/), Hotel Saint George (3-Star, http://www.hotelsaintgeorge.com/), Hotel Cataratas (4-Star, http://www.hotelcataratas.com.ar/) or Hotel Sheraton Iguazu (5-Star, inside the National Park, http://www.starwoodhotels.com/). The Argentine side is more friendly to stay, the Brazilian side is too big and less safe. You can visit in 3 days: the Argentine side of the Falls and the Brazilian side of the falls, there are several other tours but these two are the most important / better. There's a good source with more information at http://www.sayhueque.com http://www.welcomeargentina.com and http://www.tripadvisor.com . Hope this is useful. Enjoy!!

Here are a couple of small boutique hotels in Buenos Aires
http://www.designsuites.com/
http://www.vainuniverse.com/
http://www.onzehotelboutique.com
http://www.homebuenosaires.com
or you can always go to the typical Marriot, Hyatt, Sheraton, etc.

In Buenos Aires in august is winter. It is not so cold as London, but it is cold. (40 / 50 F)

If you like meat then you have to go to "Happening" (this restaurant has a couple of branches, but I suggest you to go to the one located in Costanera since is the one Argentinians go to).
If you like Italian food then try our pizzas (Los Inmortales), pastas (Piegari http://www.piegari.com.ar/) and Helados=ice-cream (Persicco http://www.persicco.com/)

If you want to go to cool places, the go to have dinner at any place in "Palermo" (soho or hollywood) or "las Ca帽itas"

You can have a coffee at "cafe Tortoni" a very old coffe house in buenos aires (http://www.cafetortoni.com.ar/)

Places to see in Buenos Aires
La Boca - Caminito
San Telmo
Recoleta
Avenida de Mayo (Casa Rosada, Cabildo)
Puerto Madero
Palermo
Tigre (Puerto de Frutos)

In Iguazu Falls you can stay at
Sheraton Iguazu Falls Hotel
Iguazu Grand Hotel and Casino
Don Enrique Lodge Misiones - Iguazu
Yacutinga Lodge

Other than that, in Argentina you can visit
Wineries in "Mendoza"
Glaciers in "El Calafate" (Perito Moreno Glacier)
Mountains in "Bariloche"
Sea life in "Peninsula de Valdes" (whales, selions, etc)

Hope you like my country, I've been in UK (only in London) twice and I loved it.

do you know spanish?

Search in Wikipedia, a great encyclopedia

I've been then before and contacted Alojargentina in Buenos Aires. They offered a good service, girls attending were very nice and I enjoyed a lot. Iguassu Falls are amazing, I had a wonderful time I recommend it a lot.
If you finally go there, don't forget to buy tea and yerba mate, the famous argentinean drink.

Just be careful what you do on your own. There are parts of Buenos Aires, and Argentina in general where it is dangerous. I know that seems silly to harp on, but being in a strange country as an extranjero (foreigner) you can be preyed upon by some people.
Stick with reputable travel agencies and have a guide when possible.
