What the nicest parts of Bristol to live in with children?

Where is a good place in Bristol to bring up children?

Definately not Southmead as one answerer suggested, it is a disgusting place to live that has more than it's share of thieves and drug addicts.

Clifton on the other hand is clean and elegant with a wide variety of social activities to endulge in. Lots of interesting shops, pubs and clubs. Easy access to the zoo, the downs, the clifton suspension bridge etc. Clifton is also very beautiful.

Redland (Bristol 6) is pretty fair, if you want to be in the main City environs. Easy access to open spaces but close enough to things like theatres, historical Bristol, etc.
I grew up in Horfield (Bristol 7) which is further out, near Horfield Common.

It depends.
There are many close villages too such as chew magna which is more in the countryside 15 minutes from the centre, or keynsham which is also about 15 minutes drive from Bristol city centre.

Ashton and Bedminster are good parts of Bristol to live with kids.

One of the other people who answered this question suggested Chew Magna - it seriously takes the best part of an hour to reach Central Bristol from there, I know as I make the journey EVER day, and there the amount of traffic going to the Airport has dramatically increased over the last year (at certain times of the day it takes half an hour to cross the road).

Horfield
St.Pauls
Knowle
Lawrence weston
Soufmead

For quiet residential areas with relatively good schools and excellent shopping, try Emersons Green, Longwell Green, Bradley Stoke and Long Ashton. The person who suggested St Pauls, knowle, Horfield and Southmeand may not have had your best interests at heart

Bedminster, Southville, Ashton - close to town but also close to the countryside. Lots of schools and facilities and thriving community.
