Which is the best suburb to live in Brisbane?

I am moving to brisbane in a month and I want to rent a place. I am looking for a place that has lots of cafes and restaurants as I really love eating out and a large shopping centre in close proximity. It would be an added advantage if the place is close to the beach/water.

I'll give you some suburbs that are close to the bay and have cafe's and a nice environment. The first one being the best and so on.

Cleveland
Raby Bay
Gold Coast
Redland Bay
Currumbin Waters
Sunshine Coast
Redcliffe

lots of cafes and restaurants / large shopping center / close to the beach/water
you don't want Brisbane you want the Gold Coast

in Brisbane you can got 1 or 2 of those options near to each other but not all 3

or,perhaps Bribie island!surrounded by clean beaches and a short trip to the city!

Try the Park Road area in Milton. You will have all you need except the Beach but Southbank Parklands with great beach and swimming is only ten minutes away by ferry or car.

Keep a look out for hoop snakes and drop bears this time of year.

not sure about where to live there, but i do know brisbane cbd is a friggin nightmare to drive into, i got lost even with a gps in my car.. i was there last year on holiday.. underground parkin cost heaps too..

The gold coast would be suitable but its really expensive there. The northern suburbs like Redcliffe is nice also bit pricy also. You have picked the right city in Australia though.

try red land bay or something...that's close to the beach. but its not considered brisbane.

there are a lot of major shopping centers so its no problem to find a shopping district. nearly all suburbs have their own shopping center or somewhere close.

i could tell you where NOT to go...

sunny bank, westend, inala, coorparoo...everywhere else is pretty much alright.
