Going on a day trip to France next Friday...What do you suggest in Calais?

Shops and stuff to see...

touristic link for the area ... it may help

DUTY FREE!!

Buy wine!!!!

Calais is designed for ferry visitors so there isn't too much else to do but go to the Hypermarkets and chill out at the cafe's !!

Enjoy !!

Cheese, buy some cheese :) For some reason it tastes better in france... x

I suggest you come aboard The Pride of Canterbury and i'll have a walk about and see if i can see ya!!! I'm a Stewardess on that ship!!!

In answer to your question, i have never been into Calais so i couldnt tell ya im afraid. Sorry!

i vaguely remember a rather nice market when i went there some years back, could see if thats still there?

perhaps DIY isn't your thing at the moment but we find that Black & Decker tools are much cheaper in the French Hypermarkets than the UK. Also bars of 72% chocolate. Beer : St Omer rather than Kronenburg, Stella or John Smiths. Coffee beans - Taillefer or Carte Noir. (and as everywhere with tourists, watch out for thieves)

Do not pay less than 3 euros for a bottle of wine, and preferably more than 5. Also, champagne is not good value in France.

Cite of Europe shopping centre good buys are coffee beer wine and cheese. If you go with your car the best buys are a few miles outside Calais
