Planning a Trip to Boston, HELP?!?

My fiance and I are trying to head to Boston this fall. What is the weather typically like the last week of September, 1st week of October? Also, we are planning a day trip to Boston so beside the Sam Adams brewery (:D) what other places should we check out? We are also taking a day trip to Salem, and a 2 day trip to Plymouth. We both really like history and outdoor activities. THANKS!

Lived here all my life...the weather should be just fine..mid to late 60's during the day, 50's at night...looks like you have some nice things planned...

As far as historical sights we have the Freedom Trail walking tour.

You can tour Fenway Park during the day, take a Duck Boat tour (really cool), go to Quincy Market/Fanueil Hall and eat until you can't stand up anymore...The Union Oyster House is right around the corner for some great seafood and it happens to be the oldest restaurant in the country...great raw bar as well...the North End is within walking distance of Quincy Market..it's the Italian section of Boston..great places to eat right on Hanover Street...Mike's Pastry is excellent for dessert..Also in the North End is Paul Revere's House and the Old North Church...really great place in our history

.I'm sure you'll see Plimouth Plantation on your 2 day trip to Plymouth...very nice..Isaac's on the Waterfront is a nice, casual place to eat in Plymouth after touring the area...

Salem is pretty cool too...the House of Seven Gables, the Salem Witch museum, and a lot more too see there.

If the weather is not great, we do have some great museums and attractions...Museum of Fine arts, Museum of Science, the New England Aquarium, the JFK Library and Museum (10 minutes South of Boston at Columbia Point) is cool too...the USS Constituion at Charlestown Navy Yard to see the oldest warship still afloat..

One other thing that is pretty cool is to go to Harvard Square and hang out, grab lunch, walk around and people watch...lots of characters there and a pretty hip place...

I hope these ideas help...have a great trip!!

I live in the Boston area. Once I'm done with college I definitely plan on moving to the city, it's just wonderful! You should definitely check out the museum of science...it's a lot of fun, there's tons of things to do: just google boston, MA and you will get more than enough options. plymouth is really nice too. =] the weather around that time is usually really nice....warm, but not kill-yourself boiling..its my favorite time of the year.

I live in Boston and I love it. Everything in Boston is awesome. You need to go to Quincy Market and go on something called a "Duck Tour" where you go on a World War II duck boat that can go on land and on water. It will give you a tour of the whole city and it will take you on the Charles River, which is the main river in massachusetts. The weather is usually around 60-70 degrees but watch out because it can get a little cooler.

Weather End of September, to October can be warm to brisk... But usually you are right in the sweet spot there where it is temperate in the high 60's in the afternoon and cool at night. If a storm comes in.. all bets are off.

In Boston, HIstory: Old North Church , Paul Revere House in North End which is the Italian Neighborhood. Stroll to Waterfront Park and over to Fanuel Market and See Fanuel Hall. Walk over to State Street and stand on he Boston Massacre Site. Meander through Devonshire and up Franklin to Bromfield St and see old City Hall. Up to Tremont and visit The Granary Burial Grounds and the Park Street Church. Then over to Beacon Hill and see old Boston, befoe rall the sky scrapers. Back down into the public Gardens and enjoy the changing leaves on a bench.

Plymouth, if you have a car and get bored (after you discover Plymouth Rock is a sham, but do check out the wax museum, The Mayflower and Plymouth plantation if you have the time). . here is a locals only know. spot to drive to called Manamout Point. Great Sea view and if its a nice day you'll enjoy for a few minutes or bring a lunch to sit on the cliff and watch the sea.. Look closely for Harbor seals on teh rocks and in the water.

Salem is fun and the house of seven gables is interesting. I am very partial to the gourmet popcorn served at Salem willows which is north of the center about 2 miles.

Fenway Park is another place to visit as long with the over priced museum of Fine Arts, (excellent collection, jsut the most expensive entry price you'll find for an art museum. Teh Aquarium is world class and reviewed well. The Boston Museum of Science is also another popular attraction... And Finally if you like old ships check out the Beaver, (Boston Tea Party fame) and Old Ironsides the USS Constitution, a 200 year old war ship that is still active in the US Navy!

Final word of advice.. this is Massachusetts, some of the most difficult driving and obnoxious drivers in North America. Bring a GPS if you have one. And do ask directions too. The place has awful sign age. Restaurants you'll just have to e-mail me. wonder ... can collect a fee for all that? Well maybe atleast a best answer.

In Plymouth check out Plymouth Plantation if its open, and Plymouth Rock, plus the replica boat close by.

Salem there's the House of Seven Gables, the Pirate museum, Maritime society or something(forgot what it's called) a couple of Witch museums and my favorite the Peabody Essex museum.

In Boston there is the Museum of Science, Museum of Fine Arts, USS Constitution, Paul Reveres home and the Boston Public Library(3RD largest archive in the US)

There is a whale watch that leaves from the wharf in Plymouth. The Mayflower tour is good, and the Plantation. You can also take a ferry to Provincetown (the tip of Cape Cod) from Plymouth wharf, but the trip there and back will be most of a day. Not sure if it runs every day after the summer is over, so you'll need to check on that.

Oh, in the city you've gotta go to the bar at the top of the Prudential building for at least one cocktail. The view of the city is the best you will find. I love Newbury street for upscale lunching and shopping.

Chek out these two below websites to determine what you can do while in Boston http://www.123world.com/boston/boston-at... and http://boston.nyctourist.com/boston-attr... Good LucK!!
