Road Trip around Boston? |
Want to fly from Norfolk to Boston and then take a road trip in March---need to have suggestions as to what to see and where to go. Should we stay in Boston or just stay at various points along the way?? Will rent a car in Boston from the airport. Will the weather be fair by middle of March? I've lived in Boston my whole life and there are alot of things to see. Places outside of Boston that are nice to check out would be Cambridge, Quincy, Newton and Brighton. I don't recommend driving in the city/downtown though, because it can be tough with so many rude drivers around here. In terms of the weather...last year in March it was still snowing and icy. The way things are going now...this year will probably be the same. So pack warm! :-) March is hit or miss for weather. Could be 20 inches of snow, or it could be mild. What it won't be is spring. 1. Boston's weather will be fair in March. I cannot tell you whether to "stay along the way" because I do not know what the way is. Plan on wearing your winter coat, March is cold, and even on the more mild days the wind will be freezing. I'd put off renting the car for the whole time, particularly if you are staying in the city. It is easier to take the public transportation, the "T", and cheaper with no parking costs. Save your money on the rental and take in some of Boston's great museums and shopping. Stroll down Newbury Street, see the wonderful artwork at the Museum of Fine Arts and its neighbor, The Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, and be sure to have a delicious dinner in the North End. So much to see! It needn't cost you a bundle. |
