No, not that scary. Go on Google Maps and get directions from one address to the other. They'll offer you a view of the streets.

Rt. 2 is usually a 2-lane rd that opens into 3-4 lanes when you get past Lexington. It gets busyier as you get closer to the city. Sometimes there are 2 lanes that do not have a middle barrier to protect you from the drivers coming the opposite way. Just drive far to the right and you'll be fine.

No it's not scary at all. Most of it will be just 2 lanes, and not that crowded, depending on the time of day you go. It opens up to 4 lanes, and gets crowded around the intersection of 95, but that's about all.

It's not scary - it gets busy and slow depending on the time of the day that you're driving. If you're in no hurry, you take this route & get to Newton.
