Renting a Car in Boston, Under age 21??? |
Im going to Boston for Spring Break. I'm 19 years old and there is no company that rents to people under 21. Does anyone know a way around this or a company in Boston that allows people under 21 to rent? None, you need to be 25 to even get insurance. The nice thing is in Boston the T runs until 1am on friday and saturday and until midnight during the rest of the week. Almost the entire city is accessible by the T and everywhere else is by the Bus. It's very inexpensive and you can buy a visitors pass for it for like 20 bucks I think...or a monthly pass for 30. It's two dollars one way, several free connections, and the commuter rail (if you want to go to Salem, or Plymouth is about 8 bucks one way). Have fun, take public transportation, it's soooooo easy and there are MAPS EVERYWHERE. Also if you're flying it, the Silver Line that runs to the heart of the city (to South Station) leaves from the airport every ten minutes. sorry out of luck here. All places you have to be 25 to rent a car. But there are plenty of ways around the city with out a car, might be better off with out one because parking is $$$$ and finding a parking spot can get tricky at times. No and we want you to stop asking stoopid questions like this you're in college for God's sake! Act like it. Well I know most places say you need to be 25, but the thing of that is, if you are under 25 they actually just charge you extra per day for added insurance. BUT, I don't know if that is only 21+ as well. Try Dollar Rental. They are most well known for being lienent with the under 25 thing at least, maybe they will also rent to someone who is 19. . . Another note though, you don't NEED a car at all in the city. Unless you plan on making day trips, like to other areas of the state or far outside Boston, you'll end up paying a HIGH rate for a crappy rental car, and then daily parking at your hotel and not using the car. Boston can be easily navigated with the train system, or walked. And taxis are easy to come by and not too expensive if you want to splurge for that for some trips. Even if you wanted to go somewhere like Cape Cod, etc there are bus lines. It might just save you money. . .Enjoy your trip! |
