What neighborhoods in boston should I avoid? |
I know bad stuff can happen anywhere, but I don't realy know the city that well at all and don't want to end up in crack central if ya follow. I'm a Caucasian female young, and I live in the South Boston/Dorchester border. Dorchester is safe. There are so many police cars that cruise up and down there day in and day out. Roxbury isn't too bad except at night, is a small (very small) gang population, during the day again so many police. Mattapan is where I find the most dangerous in all of Boston (scares the hell out of me), but again most of it's a lack of understanding, or shooting your mouth off. Boston is a pretty safe city compared to the majority in the nation! With all cities go out at night in pairs or more, and carry a cellphone with you for emergencies. My only place to stay away from is Mattapan and that's only from stories I hear from relatives that scare me, hahaha. If you are white you don't want to be walking in Roxbury, especially at night. Becareful near the project areas too. Most of Boston is safe though, and crime has gone down over the years. I was born in Boston and had an apartment near Boston College. I moved to San Antonio, Texas 3 years ago but I still miss Boston. roxbury and dorchester. DON'T go there! Well, there are certain areas of Boston that are out of control right now.. Im talking a murder a night, sometimes 2 in a day!!! Roxbury, Mattapan and parts of Dorchester. Don't forget your best bet is to stay in down town Boston area, every place Most of Jamaica Plain are fine, don't list to that person who probably has never stepped foot there. If you're white , def stay out of Roxbury and Mattapan; Blue Hill Ave is not the place to be! I was born in Roslindale... Don't listen to ZoL F - Roslindale is a pretty safe area - I've lived there for over 25 years; is a little suburb within the city of Boston. I would not travel alone at night in Roxbury, parts of Jamaica Plain, Mattapan or Dorcherster in the north (Chelsea, Lawrence) - just because of the crime and violence. But is like any other cities of America, you just be careful. |
