California or Boston?

omitting the weather what are some of the relative merits

Depends where in California. I could never live in LA, I did live in Boston for 8 years and wouldn't care to again, and cost of living not withstanding, I would enjoy living in San Francisco.

Personally I found Boston a difficult city to live in -- the cost of living was stifling and the vibe is just not friendly. When I moved there from PA, I was shocked that people didn't make eye contact and say Hi walking down the street... and when I did that, people thought I was a loon!

california has very diverse features to it and they is a lot more to do in california than boston but boston is rich with the history of this country. california has a lot of national parks and beaches too!!

Boston. Califorina is full enough.

Way more stuff to do in California but try not to compare a city with a state. Try Boston and LA for example

California is awesome. It has mountains and deserts and beautiful coastline and good skiing, and it is filled with high-tech stuff. Boston just has museums and brick buildings and the whole Tea Party thing. California is better.

California has it all, places to snow ski, water ski, hike, great cities, culture and diversity. It has some of the best National and state parks anywhere (Yosemite for one).Don't forget Disneyland, Hollywood, giant redwood trees, and the wine country. It also has one of the biggest surfing waves in the world (mavrick).

I love the beach and I love San Fran but, I think SoCal just seems so fake and over the top(not in a good way). I don't know where in Cali you're talking about so I'm going to say Boston! Boston is so much fun and the food choices are endless and amazing!

Within 250 miles there is much, much more variety from Boston then there is in Calfornia. Believe it!!!!

Well if you go by cost of living, Boston is slightly lower. I have lived in both Boston and San Diego (Massachusetts native) and I find that there is much more to do in California, you can go to the beach and the mountains to ski pretty much any day of the year (especially winter). The downfall is that the cost of living is so high, and in Boston it is considerably lower. It's also comparing a city to an entire state, what part are you considering moving to?

I think it's apples to oranges. It's just about that you like. However I would pick Ca. There is nothing like it. And for some reason everyone wants to live here. You have the beaches, snow skiing, the desert. Pretty much whatever you want. But if you want to live in Boston, here's a link for you to check it out.

california is better. boston is just one small city, and a rather sterile one at that.

what kind of shitty place likes to scrub down it's city when somebody puts a sticker up on the street? boston is sterile, boring.
