Good restaurants in Boston, MA?

Hello. I'm going to Boston for a few days to check out colleges and was curious about good, fairly inexpensive restaurants in the city. I think I am staying in the Theatre District, by Emerson College. If you have any suggestions of any type of cusine, especially vegetarian friendly places, please let me know. Thanks!

You'll be right by Chinatown, it's definitely worth going for dim sum. Also, Buddha's Delight is supposed to be a good veggie friendly restaurant.

On Stuart St there is a great Indian place called Tantric. If you venture over to Harvard Square, check out Veggie Planet. For late night, walk down to the South Street Diner. You're also a short walk to Charles St in Beacon Hill. There are several nice cafes for lunch or a cheap dinner. Figs, a bit pricier, has amazing pizza but is only open for dinner. For Italian, just walk down Salem St or Hanover St in the North End until you find a place that looks right for you.

You're staying in a really good location that's a short walk to great dining neighborhoods like Chinatown, Back Bay, Beacon Hill, and South End - so make sure you explore and don't waste your time with the chain restaurants around there.

Mcdonalds, they sell salad

The theater district gets costly some times so be forewarned. A great place is Rockbottom Brewery (burgers, huge salads, pub fare), Finale (all deserts with 'light" menu, which is predominately salads), there is a fantastic restaurant if you're willing to take the Silverline (T), to a place called Flour on Washington St. that serves great vegan friendly food, also in Brookline (Green C line at Coolidge Corner) there is a all organic, vegan friendly Chinese restaurant called Golden Temple, because of the diversity of the city, most restaurants are a plus. But Emerson is in the heart of China Town, so you'll be fine for lots of veggies, and in expensive!

It's been a few years since I lived there but my favorite place in town was Elephant Walk -- it's a bit out on the Green Line but definitely worth it.

For a quick bite, b.good is a good option for healthy grub!

If you're going to venture out a bit, Hana Sushi in Cambridge and what used to be Ole in Arlington, now Zocalo, was fantastic Mexican food!

Emerson is a good college because you're in the theater district where you couldn't essentially be any more right in the middle of everything. There are SO many choices. Finale is a FUN place to go, because you won't find anything like it. It's a dessert restaurant, with yummy cookies and tortes. Then they also serve a few light menu items, mainly salad or soups. It is worth checking out really. The good part about Emerson is you are always within walking distance from the T, the public train system. So if you wanted to go somewhere across the city, or outside the city maybe Cambridge, or Allston it would be easy to navigate. Enjoy your stay!

I hope you have a lot of fun here!

There are a couple of restaurants that are fairly inexpensive but will give you a feel for Boston. I don't know the Theatre District as well as the Back Bay, so I'm giving you recommendations there. It's right down the street.

Parish Cafe on Boylston St: http://boston.citysearch.com/profile/map...

Tapeo on Newbury St. for tapas (probably very busy at night)

American Joe's Bar and Grill for American food

Legal Seafoods at Copley Place or Prudential Center

(not that cheap but one of those "Boston" things)

That's all I can think of for now. I chose things that are not all about drinking.

There are many great restaurants in Boston to choose from. The following websites will give you a good list to choose from. They are http://www.boston-vacation-hotels.com
and http://boston.nyctourist.com/
I am sure you will what you are looking for.

Tough to beat the Union Oyster House- it's near Quincy Market- not far from Emerson.
