For all the info you need its above,Bermuda is a British dependency, meaning they are posessions of England/UK=United Kingdom, meaning not independent state like USA,it also means that the same Queen of England is the head of state for Bermuda.
However as it relates to Yahoo Answers you can use either US or UK even though it would be appropriate use for UK.

It is all kind of confusing....
In simple terms Bermuda is a territory. Which generally means they cannot sign treaties on their own (without main country's consent - or 'nod').

However the British grant their territories a large amount of autonomy.... So for example Bermuda has it's own immigration policy and so on. The government is also self-governing meaning they can form/pass their own legislation. (Albeit the Queen or "Crown" does have veto power. But she'll never actually use it because it can be seen as over--stepping her bounds.) Bermuda also has the power to pass their own budgets and so on...
Bermuda is also losley part of the European Union. Although the UK did pass a law allowing their territories to decide how much-- of the EU they have to be involved in or administered by. So not all EU laws apply to British territories.

Bermuda is considered UK... (If you had to sign a treaty with them.) But it also isn't UK....... From a legal standpoint any treaties the UK signs, also become available to Bermuda as well.... E.g. that is why in Bermuda you can go through their customs and immigration once and you don't need to be researched in the US again because that is the agreement the US/UK have with each other and it becomes granted to Bermuda as well.

If you lived there you wouldn't have a "Yahoo home page". Bermuda is not outright the UK and it is not outright the United States or Canada either. Bermuda has its own US-style area code. (Not British Country code of 44.) They have their own internet domain e.g. ".bm" not .UK nor.US...

Basically Bermuda is to the UK, as Puerto Rico is to the United States accept, politically the UK grants Bermuda more rights than the US does to Puerto Rico.

Bermuda is allowed to have their own currency for example. However, because they are not a fully independent state their money legally has no value outside of their nation-state. Even though the Bermuda dollar is worth US$1 in Bermuda. And their money is pegged to the US$ so it doesn't change like most *former* British colonies in the Americas. (Except Canada, Guyana, Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago)

The reason Bermuda had a US base was because during World War II when Britain was getting creamed by the Germans the United States signed an agreement with Britain called the "Destroyers for Bases Agreement"
The US would be allowed *basically* to put bases in UK controlled territories and in exchange the US would give the British a bunch of navy destroyers (ships.).

Whenever British ships would leave the UK and sail down to the Caribbean to pick up agriculture, gold, oil or other resources from their colonies and send it back North-- their merchant ships where getting blown up by German U-Boats out in the Atlantic. So the British needed strong war boats that could protect their resources that were being sailed in from the Caribbean, Africa, Asia and elsewhere during the war. So out of that whole thing, the US got 99 year leases in many British territories throughout the Americas including in Bermuda.

Keep in mind, the UK historically had quotas on how many people from their colonies could move to the mother country.... (It was said--- that it was mostly aimed at Hong Kong.) However my main point is it may not be an automatic in-- in being able to move to the UK from Bermuda. It could take a while if they still have any modern day quotas or other impediments that they might use now.

Also a considerable cross section of Brits. appear to be trying to get out of the UK I find. The taxes mixed with the cost of living is leaving many Brits looking for "greener pastures" esp. away from London.... If I were you, I'd do lots of research. Bermuda is real nice still though.... Esp. these days it is doing well. If independent it would be ranked as the 3rd or 4th best country to live in according to the standard of living there... Their standard of living has even surpassed the US and it rivals Finland, Norway, and Sweden infact having that Bermudian citizenship may not be all that bad..

If you think Bermuda is expensive, just wait until you go to the UK and buy British Sterling (Pounds) with your American Dollars!

Unless your family has "Bermuda Status" or dual citizenship you may find it difficult to relocate here as immigration is very tricky here.

I prefer Bermuda to the UK simply for the weather!!

The Bermudian Dollar is par with the USD.

I always use Yahoo for USA for the spellings and close proximity for a reference.

Bermuda (officially, The Bermuda Islands or The Somers Isles) is a British overseas territory in the North Atlantic Ocean. Located off the east coast of the United States, it is situated around 1770 km (1,100 mi) northeast of Miami, Florida and 1350 km (840 mi) south of Halifax, Nova Scotia. The nearest landmass is Cape Hatteras, North Carolina, about 1030 km (640 mi) west-northwest (see Geography section below). It is the oldest and most populous remaining British overseas territory, settled by England a century before the Acts of Union that created the Kingdom of Great Britain.

Although commonly referred to in the singular, the territory consists of approximately 138 islands, with a total area of 53.3 km虏 (20.6 sq. mi.). Compiling a list of these islands is often complicated, as many have more than one name (as does the entire archipelago, which, in addition to its two official names, has historically been known as "La Garza", "Virgineola", and the "Isle of Devils"). Despite the limited land mass, there has also been a tendency for place names to be repeated; there are, for instance, two islands named "Long Island", three bays known as "Long Bay" and the town of St. George is located within the parish of St. George on the island of St. George (each known as St. George's), whereas Bermuda's capital, the City of Hamilton, lies in Pembroke Parish, not Hamilton Parish, on the largest island, "Main Island", which itself is sometimes called "Bermuda" (or "Great Bermuda").

Bermuda has a thriving economy, with a large financial sector and tourism industry giving it the world's highest GDP per capita in 2005. It has a sub-tropical climate, pink beaches, and cerulean blue oceans.
