I'd suggest you search on the internet for airline consolidators, as often then have very cheap airline tickets for round trip fares from say Boston/Rio de Janeiro for a little over US$500.00. I doubt if you can enter Brazil with only a one-way ticket, as I believe the Brazilian consulate requires verification of a round-trip ticket and travel plans prior to issuing you a valid visa. You could also check another internet site "Sky-Auction" and you bid on airline tickets, similar to e-Bay. Good luck!
