How much do you pay for a kilo (or pound) of fresh mussels in your local market?

Please specify if it is with our without the shell.

I produce mussels and I try to see what the prices around the world are.

Tx Cisje. Of course I am referring to the "other type".

This is a hard question to answer...
In Belgium they sell two types of mussels...the one from Zeeland (Holland) and "the other type". As there aren't a big amount mussels from Zeeland, the price is rather high... The other type goes for a lower price.
Then there are different sizes in mussels, you have the jumbo ones which are really big, the normal ones and the little ones. It's obvious that the biggest sell at the highest price. And then there's the time of the year that's important. As we Belgians love to eat mussels with French fries in summer, the prices go up around June. So to give you a good indication, the price of a regular size mussel at the beginning of June is about 4 euros for 2 kilos. These are with shell, not cleaned and not the ones from Zeeland.
The only mussels without shell that are on sale here are the ones which come in jars and on vinegar. Don't know the price though.

in Scotland about 2 pounds sterling fresh but I am not so Kean on them here I do prefer Belgium or the Philippine in Holland just over the border from Belgium they are fab best I Have ever tasted yum yum

Here in Antwerp 3-5 Euro per Kg!
In some markets (rarely) you can find out of the shell(raw) to bake or just like Moules parquet open raw in the shell, that price is extremely expensive because of the handling of the mussels they have to be stick open(not so easy) price per full cup 5-7 Euro!

About 4,95 EURO/kg (with the shells of course) at the Carrefour Markets
