Do Delta Airlines need visas/proof of departure from peru if you will stay in South Am. more than 90 days?

I am going to Peru and I am flying with Delta Airlines. My ticket is a return and I fly back from Costa Rica 6 months later. Does anyone know if I need to prove to Delta that I will not be staying in Peru for more than a maximum of 90 days as I do not have a visa? I have been told that airline scan refuse you boarding if you do not have some kind of onward travel ticket.

You need proof of onward travel within 90 days--not to be arranged once arrived, but already in-hand, or else they can deny you boarding. The reason is because they are partly liable for fine and costs of returning you if you are refused entry for not having proof of onward travel. Proof of onward travel from Peru could be a flight hop to another country, a ferry, train, or bus receipt for travel out within 90 days of your arrival day.

However... after checking http://www.timaticweb.com/cgi-bin/tim_we... for you, looks like you can extend 3 x 30 days--in advance of course--for 3 tenners, but airline can refuse boarding without proof.

You need to call the airline (talk to a human) and ask. I doubt it will be a problem - lots of people have convoluted travel plans and that is what your plans sound like. Just confirm, and arrange for any extra documentation you might need in advance.
