Customs advice?

I'm going to England soon to visit a friend and it just occured to me that this is my first time ever flying and I have no idea what to expect at customs when I get to the different airports. Is there anything I should worry about? Or any papers I need besides my passport? Or anything else that would need to know that would help me out.

Both of you help a lot. Another question I have is checking bags. I was told I can have one carry on but am not sure on how big or heavy it can weigh. Or does it depend on the airport?

As far as getting through security when leaving...if you plan on having any liquids over 3 oz, you will need to check the bag that they are in. If you were planning on not checking a bag, then your liquids will have to be 3oz or less, in 1 quart size baggy. You are not allowed to bring water or anything liquid through security, unless it follows the 3oz or less rule.
As far as getting through customs in England, and then again back in the states. You will need your passport. The airline will supply you with any customs forms you need, or they will be available when you get to customs. You can't bring any fresh fruit, meats through customs. So if you bring any snacks onboard with you that contain either of these, you will have to eat them on the plane, or throw them away when you are leaving the plane. You don't need any other papers besides your passport, however, it is always a good idea to make a copy of your passport to have with you. Just in case you somehow lose your passport, it will help you out a lot to have the copy. Be sure to keep your passport in a safe spot!!! have a great trip!!!

You need to go to the website of the airline you are flying with and read the rules. There is alot you need to know from what you can take on the plane in your suitcase, and in your carry on to what time you need to get there, what documents you need to produce - all important stuff to know to make your flying experience as stress free and smooth as possible

You have to make sure you don't have any liquids that are more than 3 oz. Since I am not so sure about the customs, you will get more information on their website. Hope you have fun on your trip to England!
