Is flying northwest airlines as safe as all other airline carriers?

I've heard from a lot of people that northwest airlines isnt the "safest" company to fly with. Is this true? I've heard Its safer flying with anyone else but them

Northwest is a lot safer than than African or South American Airlines and about the same as other North American Airlines.

Flying is still the safest way to travel. You have a much greater chance of being hurt during the drive to the airport.

If your really scared European Airlines have great safety records.

Airbob is nearly right. Just to correct the record QANTAS crashed a Fokker F.27 back in the 1960's killing the crew. It was a training flight with no fare paying passengers so is usually omitted from the statistics.

As far as personal safety is concerned all of the airlines require you to go through the same security checkpoints. So personal safety should be the same as other airlines. HOWEVER, I have had my luggage lost twice (Delivered several hours later or the next day)on Northwest airlines, so if you mean the safety of your luggage then possibly not.

Commercial flight, regardless of carrier, is, statically speaking, the safest form of mass transportation. Quanta's Airlines has never had a crash or flight fatality in it's history.
