I watched air crash investigation and now it's put me off flying what do i do?

I watched that show all the time. And it doesn't affect me. Air Crash investigation is shown not to make you fear flying but to learn from the mistakes of the past.

As far as what you will do. You can do the following the day before your flight.

2) Have plenty of rest and sleep the day before you're flight
3) Meditation, deep breathing and muscle relaxation techniques can help reduce your anxiety during flights.
4) Desensitization is one of the more commonly used methods in treating fear of flying. This will entail gradually facing the idea of flying, starting with simply talking about it, or visiting an airport, to eventually taking a flight.

Think of the other thousands of daily flights..that DON'T crash...safest form of travel up there.

Take a flight, see how it really is and then go........ the TV stuff is stupid.

I know how badly these shows can affect people. I have had nightmares after watching final destination movie and was afraid of flying. try to go to any major airport and watch how many airplanes take off and land safely every 10 seconds. There are many books and audio cd's out there that can help cope with the fear. Learn as much as you can about airplanes and the dynamics of flying. Knowledge is power! Do not let the fear paralyze you as this will cause it to grow. And remember the trip to the airport with your car is far more dangerous than the flight yourself. However, I am sure you have not put off driving, have you?

Ignore the TV show. It must be really hard for them to make this programme consider Air travel is one of the safest means. Trust me if they showed a programme called "car crash investigation" you'd never go anywhere by car again.

If the show was called "safest air travel investigation" no-one would watch it.

It's the same for anything, even movies, I.E Jaws. They work on peoples fear, using it to their advantage.

As mentioned above, think of the THOUSANDS and THOUSANDS of flights daily, how often have you heard of a top class jet crashing???? Severely crashing, bar 9/11 it's so rare.

Actually the chances of you being in a plane crash are really small. Remember that airplane crashes make the news only because they are so rare. Imagine if every car accident made world news headlines.

I actually watched airplane crashes the night before I flew. It helped me know what to do if the plane I was in actually did go down. Thankfully I have never had to use that knowledge. Just remember these air crash investigations will only help to make air travel more safe.
