Why does singapore airlines use the A380 for the sydney flight?

Why not for the Singapore-Newark flight whice is 18 hours. Sydney is 7 hours.

Actually, the SIN-SYD sector has been doing exceptionally well since the introduction of the A380, filling up all 399 Economy class seats regularly. Singapore Airlines is about to introduce another A380 route to London, starting on March 18. Its all about loads and revenue.

The Singapore - Newark route is currently being operated by an Airbus 340-500, designed for ultra long haul flying. However, there has been an increase in demand for premium travel between the United States and Asia, thus, Singapore Airlines are planning to renovate all of its 5 A340-500's into an All Business Class cabins, starting mid-2008.

The A380 is used on this flight for a vary simple reason. Heavy loads. There are already 2 flights to and from singapore to sydney everyday. One using a 747-400 and the other of course using the A380 and a third flight is about to be launched sothe reason is bascially for high loads. Singapore will begin to use the A380 to start flying to london as their second A380 destination very soon. BTW the A380 does not have the range to fly from SIN to newark. Besides that flight is doing relatively poorly and it is being taken out of service.

becasue Singapore-Sydney is one of the most popular routes for Singapore Airlines and the most popular route for Australia to Asia and the major linking ground between Australia and euroupe.

when more of the A380's come in, they will spread out.

Because maybe the other airports cannot handle the A380 because in Thailand a A380 got it's wing let cut off because the taxiway at the airport was to small.
