I am trying to use my reward miles to book a trip on American Airlines. Can't get the flights I want. HELP!!! Reward miles are tricky. They're limited and have lots of blackout dates. You have to be so lucky to get the flight you want. American Airlines actually has very few blackout dates -- this so-called "best answer" is actually a generalization that is not specific to the question that was asked, and doesn't really help with the unique situation of the original question. Report It where are you going and from where? Most rewards program only have a minimal amount of seats reserved for rewards travel on each flight. When they're gone, they're gone. Sorry. Knowing what flights you want to book, your origin and destination, as well as your dates of travel will help get a more favorable answer for you. You also should note that, if your destination involves a partner airline, that award can only be booked by calling American directly. I book my award flights 11 months prior to my travel date....even then I can't always get them. Airlines only set aside a few seats for those using reward miles. Therefore you have to book your tickets early in advance. If you are going somewhere really popular, you may have to make reservations 12-18 months in advance. See if you can find out if another partner in the One World Alliance in which AA is a part of flies to the destination you want. |
