How do I get over the fear of flying?

I think I'm going to blow up or crash and die!I flew over 6 times before but that was when I was little.Now that I'm older,I realize what can happen and I am scared to fly in airplanes now.And I have to take a plane this summer since I'm going to Kansas with my best friend.

i hate flying but i took 5 overseas flights in 10 days in november all by myself and that really helped.. i know people say its safer than driving but it doesnt always help knowing that. if you really have terrible anxiety ask a doctor to prescribe an antianxiety pill and youll just feel mellow the entire flight.. it really helps!!

OMG Kristen... U dont have a fear of flying! Last time we went on a plain u never complained u actually said it was fun! And, how do u know u have a fear? When was the last time you flew??!!

Airplanes don't crash as often as cars by big time.

Sorry, don't know, because I'm the same way. When I was younger, I used to fly with my uncle own his four seater plane. We would do flips, rolls, and figure eights, it was so much fun. now I've got more since, now I know what could happen! Yes cars crash more than planes, but when a plane crashes out of the sky, how many survivors!

im going on a plane next week to visit my aunt and uncle in phoenix arizona this will be my 1st time alone and 2nd time on a plane. im afraid of heights. i hate the fact your so high in the air and your stuck there for long periods of times and just knowing your that high i nthe air freaks me out. i am also terrified of crashing and hijacking by teorrist ordeal.

Well, Whats the chance your gonna "Blow up and die"? Have you seen the security in airports? I do not think you are gonna smuggle a bomb on board?
Crash? Do you know how airplanes work? Its air under the wings keeping it up (I thinks), so unless the pilot just go's straight down, you just keep going.
Terrorists on a plane? Well, there are air marshals (Police in planes) that are dressed as normal people but have guns and can kill them. Plus I doubt they will target a flight to Kansas.
The Takeoff and landing will be scariest. Just cover your head with a blanket and hold your friends hand. Unless thats not your kind of friendship, he/she should understand.

Now you relize what can happen? Uh, I think technology ADVANCES over time, not lowers.

I fly about 3 times a year, and I'm only 13. If you wonder what a sound is, or what that thing does, ask a flight attendent, they will gladly tell you so you don't freak out.
