Local Adelaide people ??

Having a week in Adelaide soon. Any advice on things to do besides the Barossa Valley and Kangaroo Islands which we have already planned. I will probably have two days on my own while my hubby is busy. We will probably be staying at the Hyatt. Any good stuff to so around that area? Some recommendations for good restaurents please?
Thanks in anticipation.

If you're staying at the Hyatt you're right next door to the Casino and a very short walk from the Museum,Art Gallery, Library and Adelaide Oval. The main shopping strip at Rundle Mall is also very close.
Take the tram that now goes past the Hyatt down to Glenelg and check out the beach or just take it to the Central Market which is open Tuesday,Thursday,Friday and Saturday.
The mighty River Torrens also runs behind the Hyatt so go for walks along it and/or take the "Popeye" boat to the Zoo.
Theres heaps of restaurants along North Terrace and around by the central market but the one that i keep on hearing about is "Gauchos" an Argentinian restaurant on Grote St across the road from the market and maybe also try out what Cheong Liew (i hope i spelt that right) dishes up at the Hilton which is also near the market and on the tram line.
But if you're scratching like me perhaps a pie floater at the pie cart near the Casino might be worth investigating.Yum.
Happy trails

The Hyatt has the best Japanese resturant in all of Australia it is amazing.
Also directly across the road is Parlimentos resturant, good italian & aussie dishes.
& a trip to adelaide wouldnt be the same without heading to The Pancake Kitchen on Gilbert Place, its open 24hrs & is a fantastic feed.

Jump on the tram & head to Glenelg which has great shopping, cafes, bars & plenty of hot blokes (just cause we are married dosent mean we dont have eyes)

Casino is right next door to Hyatt,
The Art Gallery of Sa,the zoo, rundle mall & the parklands are all within walking distance.

Hoping you have a blast in beautiful Adelaide.

Oops I almost forgot
stop at Port Elliot & Victor Harbor on you way to Kangaroo Island, you will find beautiful country side, amazing beaches & friendly locals.
Happy Travels...

something different?

Jump on the tram in front of the Hyatt. Go to Glenelg and visit the shops. Take the kini and soak up a litle bit of sun (with sunscrean). Head back to town and get off in Victoria Square and head to the market. Real different. Grab some oysters and a bottle of top red (try any SA shiraz from 04 at around $30) and surprise hubby). Just north of Hyatt on King Williams st (about 50m) is tourism SA. They's could ceate an itinery for you on the spot.

For reseraunts head to Gougher streat and see what takes your fancy. Try the fish ones like Fish Cafe or Stanleys (great food and cheap or seafood). There's about a 100. Adelaide has so many resuraunts competing with each other that they are all good.
Walk out the back of the Hyatt and hire a bike and ride around the Torrens and parks on all the bike tracks.

If you have a hire car then Victor Harbor is the place to head for.You can go across Granite Island on the Horse Drawn Tram. see the fairy penguins, and tour the area in general. Fabulous beach specially at Horseshoe Bay , (10 mins from Victor). No car. Then take the Premier Bus from Franklin Street, it will make a nice one day out, and the fare is pretty cheap. Have fun.
